Little Big Band at the Fridge
Wow! What an evening! It was like being transported back to varsity days when I used to follow the Rhodes Big Band around in adoration. The Abu Dhabi big band (from which the Little Big Band comes) must be incredible, judging by the performance of their members last night. Most of them are teachers, so they were tired after a day’s work and a long drive down to Dubai, but despite this, the show was lively and energetic. The bass player, Lakshmi Ramirez, tattooed and ultra cool, posed for me after the show and demonstrated his trick of standing on his double bass to my delight!
